Dear Charter Families,

On behalf of the SLVUSD Charter staff, it is my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2011-12 school year. September is the time of year to reconnect with old friends and welcome new friends. To those students and parents who are new to the Charter we extend an
especially warm welcome for an exciting and productive year in your new school.  We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school through your child’s program(s).

There are several changes this year.  We welcome Kellie Goldberg as our new Math teacher. Shauna Reisewitz and Maryam Shafaghi are taking an additional
leave this year.  Rick Moran will be with us, specializing in Science and P.E.  In order to support what’s best for the students, we will continue to meld and
mingle programs through the sharing of teachers, ideas, and/or activities throughout the year.

In our office(s) Roberta Gutierrez and Sharon Silva will be sharing more of their wonderful talents with all of the Charter programs, working with Debbie Sanders
and I to support and help the families and staff in any way possible.

As we begin this 19th year as a Charter of SLVUSD, the staff and I will continue to work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by child centered instruction and decisions, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, excellent communications, and recognition of both student and staff achievement.

And don’t forget!

  • The first day of school is August 23, just around the corner!
  • Please turn in the enrollment packet information by August 12.
  • TDAP Immunization Reminder:  A new California law requires students entering grades 7 to 12 to be vaccinated against whooping cough. The State has given a deadline of September 23 for to have your child immunized. Thank you for your support in this matter.
The staff and I are excited to work with you and your children.
